VOLUNTEER
WE NEED YOUR HELP
Each Sunday there are several people doing various jobs to make our Sunday morning Worship Gathering possible.
As a church, we serve each other alongside one another, using our time and varying talents to make Jesus non-ignorable.
Can kids help? ABSOLUTELY! We love to have our children and youth serve the church alongside the adults.
Do I have to volunteer every week? No. We would prefer to have enough people helping where everyone has weeks off to be refreshed.
Areas of Service
-
Purpose: Having the flags and signs in place on the exterior of the school makes it clear to visitors and guest that they are at the right location for Calvary Highlands Ranch!
Time: It takes 15-20 minutes to set up all signage and flags and it should be in place by 9 am. It takes 10-15 minutes to take down all signage and flags and return them to the shed - after the service is dismissed.
Process: Items are stored in the shed on the West side of the school close to the dumpsters. A key is needed to unlock and relock the shed, which we will supply. There are two large sandwich board signs, four flags, one flag stand, and sand weight. Signs are to be placed in designated areas (we will show you) at both entrances to the property and in front of the gym. After the service is dismissed, collect all signs and return to the shed.
-
Purpose: To transform the Gym into a welcoming space for our weekly Sunday morning gathering.
Time: It takes about 15-20 minutes to set up chairs. It takes about 15-20 minutes to take down chairs after the service is dismissed. It takes about 10-15 minutes to set up the Welcome, Information, and Kids’ Desks. It takes about 10-15 minutes to take down the Welcome, Information, and Kids’ Desks after the service is dismissed.
Process for Chairs: We use one chair rack to set up about 60-70 chairs. We watch to see if we need to set up more during the early stages of the worship service. Chairs are set up at least an hour prior service start (by 9 am). At the end of the service, after time for people to fellowship and talk, all the chairs are put back on the racks.
Process for Desks: Each desk is a rolling bin stored in the outside storage shed. Bring the bins into the gym and put in place by unpacking each bin and using its parts and contents to transform it into the desk. Each desk then has items to arrange on them for display or use by the congregation. There is a laptop, and label printer for check-in on top of the Kids’ Desk; The Box and other seasonal items (scripture journals, Welcome to the Family books, and sign up sheets) go on top of the Information Table; and The Card, Calvary Weekly’s, and pens and tissues are usually on top of the Welcome Desk.
-
Purpose: We provide hot coffee, and hot water for tea and cocoa each Sunday morning. This is to encourage socialization and mingling among our congregants.
Time: Coffee making can take 45 minutes to an hour and should be completed by the huddle time around 9:30 am. Coffee clean-up takes about 10-15 minutes after the service is dismissed.
Process: There is a bin with all coffee supplies is in the main storage area. The coffee pots and some related items are on the top of the refrigerator (in a crate) in the teacher’s lounge. We make the coffee in the teacher’s lounge, using the school’s coffee maker. We make 2 carafes of regular coffee, 1 carafe of decaf coffee, and 1 carafe of hot water.
We take the coffee from the lounge to the table set up for coffee in the gym. At the end of the service, we take all the coffee and water pots back to the lounge, where containers are emptied and cleaned. And items are returned to their storage locations.
-
Purpose: The Greeters’ goal is to encourage and welcome each person, and to ensure guests know where to go and what to expect.
Time: Greeters are in place at the doors to the gym at least 15 minutes prior to the service start (by 9:45 am). Greeters remain in place about 15 minutes into the service time to greet late comers; then greeters may be seated for the service.
Process: We would like to have one to two greeters for each service. Greeters open the doors to welcome attenders if the doors are closed and welcome attenders from the outside if the doors are open (depends on weather). For first-time guests, we ask them to fill out THE CARD, pay attention to whether they have children, help them find their way to a seat, and introduce them to others in the service.
-
Purpose: To care for, love on, and provide for our Students, their friends, and our Adult Student Workers.
Time: You may cook a meal or purchase/order a meal to serve our students. There are 10-15 students and leaders who meet on Wednesday evening at the Messer’s home.
Process: Sign up online or let the office know when you plan to provide a meal (calvaryhr@thecalvary.org). Prepare and take the meal to the Messer’s home (5226 Weeping Willow Circle, Highlands Ranch, 80130) on that Wednesday evening by 6:30 pm. Please note that all paper products are provided by the church.
Let’s work together.
